Alicia – Head Designer
Growing up with paper doll cut out’s and a scrap book full of Barbie dress drawings was a sign early on that Alicia Arcuri was headed for the fashion line up in Sydney. Having studied the Certificate 3 followed by the Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design for a total of four years at East Sydney Tafe only nurtured and further fueled this interest.
Work Experience is what introduced Alicia to the churning wheels at Cooper St. For one day a week over a ten week period Alicia came into the Surry Hills offices to soak up the experienced knowledge of Craig and the team undertaking typical work experience tasks such as swatching, hand sewing and the like until one day asked to step in and sketch for the design team. Her artistic flair and keen aptitude for the job won her a full time role on the Cooper team. Starting out as the Sydney Merchandiser for Cooper St in Myer and moving up the ranks as Design Assistant, her ability to sketch and translate images of the mind onto paper then overseeing the transformation of fabric roll to garment creation has helped in the re-direction of the company since undertaking the role of Head Designer in mid 2008.
